Step 1: Install and Activate OptinMonster Plugin

Once you successfully installed the plugin, it’s time to connect your Optinmonster account.
Remember, you’ll need to buy the Pro Plan of Optinmonster for access to the Exit Intent feature.
Step 2: Create a New Campaign
Once you’ve connected Optinmonster to your WordPress website, it’s time to create a Popup campaign.
For this, click on the “Create New Campaign” button on the top right corner of your Optinmonster account.
To create an exit popup, simply choose the ‘Popup’ option.
Next, choose the template that you’ll need to create an Exit Pop-up campaign. For the sake of this tutorial, we’ll choose the Coupon template.
Once you have selected a template, give your campaign a name and select a website where you want to add it.
After that, you’ll be redirected to the Optinmonster campaign builder interface. Now, it’s time to edit your campaign and making it your own.
Step 3: Customize Your Campaign
To get started, simply click on any part of the coupon to edit it. You can use it to change the text, font, colors, and more in whatever way you like.
To edit the campaign, simply click on any element of the template. For instance, we are changing the headline and body text of the coupon.
For that, click on the headline to bring up the editing tool on the left side. Then start typing in the text box to replace the default headline with your own. You can format the text with the available tools to choose your font, make it bold, change the size, and more.
Use the same method to change the body text. You can also remove elements of your coupon. For instance, if you don’t want to have an email sign up box, you could simply display a coupon box so that customers can use it instantly.
Once you’re finished with making changes, click on the “Save” button and proceed further.
Step 4: Set the Display Rules
In this step, you’ll need to set display rules for your popup campaign. To do this, click on the “Display Rule” tab in your Optinmoster dashboard where you’ll see different display rulesets for your campaign.
Here, choose “exit detected” from the drop-down list and then select “current URL path” and “contains” in the next display rules in order to load your popup on certain pages. You could also choose the “is any page” option if you want to display it for all of your web pages.
Once you’re done with display rules, click on the ‘Next step’ button.
Step 4: Add and Publish Campaign to Your Website
After configuring your Exit Pop-up campaign, it’s time to add it to your website. For this, click on the “Publish” tab and toggle the Status option to Live.
Next, select your website and preview the campaign.
Next, Optinmonster provides you a different way to publish your campaign. You can select the embed option that suits your needs and add it anywhere on your website.
If you’re using WordPress, you can simply add it by clicking on Campaigns in the OptinMonster plugin. Here, you’ll see a list of campaigns you have created and your recently created Exit Pop-up campaign with live status. You can also edit your output settings as per your need.
